What is the Summit Meeting?

The Oceans 20 Summit took place in Rio de Janeiro on November 16, 2024, under the Brazilian presidency of the G20.

This event represented a pivotal milestone in global efforts to promote sustainable ocean management and develop a thriving blue economy.

 

The Oceans 20 Engagement Group (O20), launched under the Brazilian G20 presidency, served as a strategic platform for aligning economic interests with conservation efforts.

The Oceans 20 Summit brought together G20 countries, civil society, academia, global corporations, and key stakeholders to address the urgent need for international cooperation on ocean governance and sustainability.

The Oceans 20 Communiqué, unveiled during the summit, outlined concrete policy recommendations for G20 leaders to adopt in order to ensure sustainable ocean management and advance global blue economic development.

Attendees gathered in Rio de Janeiro for this historic event, where global leaders, ocean experts, and key stakeholders came together to forge solutions that protect our oceans and ensure their sustainable use for generations to come.
